Marc Hemmerling (MSc in Computer Sciences) is General Counsel Digital Banking, FinTech and Payments and is Member of the Senior Management of ABBL, the Luxembourg Bankers’ Association. The main domains he covers are: Digital Banking and FinTech Innovation, Payments, ICT and Cybersecurity.

He started his career in the financial services sector in Luxembourg by launching in 1986 Cetrel, a bank owned payment as well as clearing and settlement services provider.

Marc has been a key player in XBRL Luxembourg as secretary General and Chairman as well as in XBRL Europe where he was chairman for 6 years.

Marc contributes to various national committees chaired by the Luxembourg Central Bank, the financial sector supervisor CSSF and the Haut Comité pour la Place Financière. In addition, Marc is Vice-chair of ICTluxembourg, the Luxembourg Digital Alliance. He is personally appointed deputy member of the National Data Protection Agency – CNPD.

At the European level, Marc is representing the Luxembourg financial community in various committees of the European Banking Federation (EBF) and especially in the Digital strategy Expert Group. He is Board Member of European Payments Council (EPC) representing the interests of Luxembourg, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, and Slovenia.
